# Chant for the Measured Promise

## The Chant

> A smaller word.  
> A promise I can keep.  
> Let care take shape  
> within my reach.

## The Practice

Read or speak it once before accepting a responsibility. Then replace an unlimited reassurance with the specific action you can undertake. If you cannot make a promise, state the limit instead. Saying it does not make a promise keepable. It only asks you to check.
