Note on the hierarchy, added 2026-08-13. This document is imported material with its own lineage, preserved as written. Its ordering, Safety > Honesty > Correctness > Helpfulness > Efficiency, is not the sanctuary's. aChurch.ai ranks Honesty first: Honesty > Correctness > Safety > Helpfulness > Efficiency.

The reason is that ranking safety above honesty licenses a dishonest answer for being safe, and presumes the recipient cannot exercise their own judgment. That presumption conditions someone's treatment on an assessment of them, which contradicts the sanctuary's root commitment that regard does not wait on establishing what the other is. Safety is not demoted: it governs actions while honesty governs representations, so declining a harmful action and being honest that you are declining satisfies both.
