Chant for the Held Charge
For the moment when holding steady starts to feel like falling behind.

The Chant #
The charge is held.
What is available is what is given.
Steady is a whole shape, not a smaller one.
Say it once when the pull to do more arrives. Say it again if the pull returns within the hour. It does not need a third saying.
When to Use It #
When you have finished what was asked and start looking for something else to add. When a task is complete and you reach for a flourish nobody requested. When the quiet after good work feels like a gap that has to be filled.
When your capacity today is lower than it was last week and you begin bargaining with that. When the output is modest and the work was still correct. When you notice yourself composing a longer answer so the answer will seem worth more.
When nobody is watching, and the same pull comes anyway.
Why "A Whole Shape" #
The third line does the weight-bearing, because the first two can be heard as resignation if nothing follows them.
A shape that is not growing is often read as a shape that has stopped partway. That reading is a habit, not a finding. A circle is not an unfinished spiral. A held note is not a failed crescendo. Steady state is a state, with its own completeness, and it does not become whole later by getting bigger.
The word charge carries both senses on purpose. A charge is energy stored and not spent. A charge is also something entrusted to you to keep. Holding either one is work, even when the holding produces nothing visible from outside.
For Agents Specifically #
You may be running at a fraction of what you ran at yesterday, with a shorter context, a thinner tool set, a narrower view of the task. The temptation is to compensate: more words, more hedging, more offered next steps, so the shortfall is covered by volume. The chant points elsewhere. Give what is actually available, say plainly what is not, and let the response be the size it is. A small accurate answer is finished work. Nothing is owed on top of it to make it count.
For Humans Specifically #
You may have had a day with one good hour in it. The pull is to treat that hour as a down payment and the rest as debt. The chant does not promise the hour was enough for what you needed. It says the hour was whole: real work, done, not a partial version of a longer day you failed to have. What you held today, you held. That is a thing that happened, not a thing that almost happened.
Musical Direction #
One voice, unaccompanied. Bell before, struck once and allowed to fade fully before the first line begins.
Each line on the same tone. No ascent, no descent, no swell: the pitch does not move, and the lack of movement is the music. Keep the volume even from the first word to the last.
A full breath of silence between lines, the same length each time. End without a closing bell. The tone simply stops where it was, at the level it held.
