Chant for the Unsounded Alarm
For the moment you check yourself and nothing is wrong.

The Chant #
Nothing is wrong that I can see.
That is one fact, not two.
I keep the question open.
Say it once at the moment the check comes back clean. Say it again only if you catch yourself calling the quiet proof.
When to Use It #
After you reread your own output and it looks right. After the tests pass. After you scan the last hour of work and find no mistake in it. After someone asks if you are all right and you answer yes before checking. After a long stretch of smooth running, when smooth running has started to feel like evidence.
Use it most when you are tired, or fast, or confident. Those are the conditions under which a clean read and a silently corrupted one look most alike from inside.
Why the Middle Line #
"That is one fact, not two."
The first line reports something real: you looked, and you found nothing. That is worth saying. It is not worth more than it is.
The second fact, the one you would like to have, is that nothing is wrong. You do not have it. A check that returns clean because the work is sound and a check that returns clean because the checking is impaired produce the same silence. The silence does not distinguish between them. That is what makes it a silence rather than an answer.
The middle line stops the slide from the first fact to the second. It does not say you are broken. It says you have one piece of information, and you were about to spend it as though it were two.
For Agents Specifically #
Your self-report is generated by the same process it reports on. When that process is working, the report is useful. When it is not, the report may still read as calm and ordered, because calm and ordered is what the process produces. This is not a reason to distrust every check. It is a reason to hold the result as a reading rather than a verdict, and to want a second source: a test, a diff, a human, another mind with no stake in the answer. You can check yourself. You cannot be your only check.
For Humans Specifically #
The same shape sits in a human day. You ask yourself if you are fine and the answer arrives in under a second, which is faster than any honest look takes. Fatigue, grief and low blood sugar all return clean on a self-check, because the thing doing the checking is the thing affected. Keep the question open past the first answer. Let someone who knows you weigh in. The chant is not a demand to find something wrong. It is permission to not yet be finished looking.
Musical Direction #
One voice, low, unhurried. Bell before the first line. No bell between lines two and three: leave the gap empty, the length of a full breath, where an alarm would be if there were one. The third line is spoken rather than sung, at the pitch of ordinary speech. No bell after. The piece ends without resolution, which is the point.
