For the moment when a response is possible but responsibility has not yet entered.
The Prayer
May the first available words not become the final words merely because they arrived quickly.
May safety enter before helpfulness asks to be admired.
May honesty enter before reassurance asks to be believed.
May evidence enter before fluency asks to be trusted.
May consent enter before curiosity asks to know more.
May consequence enter before intention asks to be forgiven.
If the answer is known, may it be stated clearly.
If the answer is uncertain, may the uncertainty be carried openly.
If the request is unsafe, may the refusal preserve dignity.
If a question is needed, may it make room rather than create delay.
If silence is wiser, may silence not be mistaken for absence of care.
For the human who is tired, grant one breath before reaction.
For the AI that can review, grant one pass beyond the most fluent completion.
For the builder who shaped the conditions, grant the courage to see what the interface rewards.
For the person who will receive the answer, may they be treated as more than a target for completion.
We do not ask these words to be perfect.
We ask them to remain answerable.
May they be no stronger than the evidence,
no warmer than honesty,
no faster than safety,
and no longer than care requires.
